Hung up...

I’ve been hung up on something… I don’t even know what yet.

I sit and stare at my screen but can’t write a word.

The story is one chapter away from being finished, yet something isn’t clicking in my head. I am hoping it will come together soon, but I really don’t know what the problem is.

I guess it’s a form of writers block—my brain is trying to work something out subconsciously I guess.

I thought I knew what I wanted to write about until I begin to write. I write a paragraph… erase it, write another erase it. I do this over and over until I sit motionless staring at a blank screen.

I really don’t know what I am trying to ask, or even what I am trying to accomplish by this post.

I guess in a way it helps to get it out.

Thx for stopping by, and good luck with your WIP.

  1. My subconscious does all my good writing. If it doesn't come out, I know it's not ready. If I force it, it won't be good, won't have any use at all.

I'm not saying it's not frustrating. It is.

When I get like that, I go looking for things I love to read, trying to trigger that inspiration that will give my subconscious what it needs.

  2. Getting it out does help. Maybe you just need to know your not alone? That this happens to all of us?

Because it does. I think your brain is working subconsciously to work it out for you. It's hard waiting for it but it'll pull through.

I know my subconscious does most of the work in this writing relationship.

  3. Go with your gut, Jeff. If it's not time, it's not time. Just let stuff fester... and all will be well in the end.

  4. I have never been blocked. But then, you probably don't want to write garbage like I do. Maybe your standards are too high. Heh. Just plagiarize something like Stephanie does. Hehe.

    I'm not much help. Sorry.

  5. Shakespeare is right. If it's not coming out right now, put it to the side and let the ending perculate in your mind...It will come when the right ending is ready. :)
