Update

.

My first draft after a few tweaks is 100% complete, (thank the light) and my daughter is in the process of editing it. She is a blessing. Her formidable knowledge of English, and use of syntax, has dramatically improved my work.

I’m looking for a few people (that don’t know me personally and can give honest feedback) to critic my book, so if you’re interested let me know, via email or comment here.

It might be six months before its ready to go out; I still need to send it to Shakespeare, after my daughter is finished.

My next story revolves around a solar system that has six inhabitable planets, with six varying races, all vying for control. Soon, an outside force—a more advanced race-- is looking to conquer their planets and invades. The remnants of the six planets converge on the human planet, to make one last stand. A young prince and his wife, must find away to bring these races together, and learn the secret of beating the force or all will be lost.

That’s the gist of it, who knows where it will lead.

Thx for stopping by, any feedback will not fall on deft ears.

  1. I would wait until Shakespeare has looked at it and you've incorporated her comments before sending it out again. Just a thought.

  2. Yea, Steph that’s what I meant.

Hopefully, her comments, or corrections will be easily adapted, instead of an intense rewrite, but you never know.

I'm just trying to get an idea of how much money to save for copies. that's all.

  3. WTG, Jeff!

I wouldn't mail it...I would email it, so people can do tracking changes on your manuscript. It is much easier and cheaper to make suggestions in a document for than on paper. (Unless someone asks for it on paper.)

I agree with Stephanie...wait till you hear back from Shakespeare and incorporate her input in your ms before you look for more Beta readers.

  6. First, CONGRATS on finishing your first draft! Woot! (that's more than most people ever do, Jeff. Be proud.)
And, also, how wonderful that your daughter is helping you with edits. :)

I agree with Sharon...email it (assuming you use Word, you will email the word. doc in an attachment. This way Shakespeare (and later your CPs/betas) will be able to highlight, underline, track changes, put color coded notes, questions, suggestions, etc. right on that word document and email it back to you. It's free, instant, easy, and the best way for you to instantly utilize the changes.

Good luck and best wishes on your revision journey! :)

  8. I need to borrow your daughter. I love the writing and I don't mind editing if it is not my own work. I just seem to go insane editing my own stuff.

I agree with the others about waiting until you hear back form Shakespeare. Once you do I would love to help you out.
