Some of the same characters, but a whole new everything else?

I'm shredding novel #2 right now, but I can't write on it until I finish a FULL outline of the second half of the novel, in detail, AND until I have gone through every character and really brainstormed about each one, with meaningful actions and ideas, so that these people are more than automatons fulfilling the action. I have a long way to go still.

E-mail me if you like. I'm on vacation until the end of July, so e-mail gets to me better than blog stuff (since I check it more often).Dr. Cheryl Carvajalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15323455180953109460noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7079424739175991097.post-4915389140627518172011-07-10T14:03:36.782-07:002011-07-10T14:03:36.782-07:00It's hard to stop working on a ms after you...It's hard to stop working on a ms after you've worked on it for so long. I probably never will. I don't even count it among my "finished" novels.

My first novel, which I still like, is already feeling so immature, I'll probably not touch it again unless I really find success and want to go back and fix it.

It's not the end, bud. I made the same tough decision with book #1. Even though I loved it, I knew I needed to move forward. Book #2 was better, and book #3 is what got the agent. We learn so much with each new project.

But you know what? Your book doesn't have to be gone forever. Later, once you've written a couple more books, you may decide to come back and fix it. I'm trying to fix #2 right now, and some day, MAYBE I'll go back to book #1. For now though, it was a practice novel.

Remember this: NOTHING IS WASTED!!!!!Julie Musilhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02150454913885915017noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7079424739175991097.post-19146824098483273262011-07-05T23:49:40.415-07:002011-07-05T23:49:40.415-07:00Wow, the irony.
